Traditional Chinese Medicine

​Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a health care system that has evolved over 5000 years. Basic principles incorporate the balance of Yin and Yang, and the continuous flow of essential Qi, our body’s driving energy or life force by utilizing various treatments, including acupuncture, cupping, diet and lifestyle education. It is based on the theory this energy (Qi), travels through the body along specific pathways or “meridians”. More recent research has shown that these pathways do in fact exist and that acupuncture points can be detected by their lowered electrical resistance, travelling through the body in a way similar to your nervous or cardiovascular systems. Harmony between the two opposing yet complementary forces, called yin and yang, supports health, and disease results from an imbalance between these forces.
What happens in one part of the body affects all other parts of the body. Body and mind are viewed as one, part of an elaborate energetic system. The World Health Organization (WHO) endorses the use of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine for many conditions.
