Acupuncture

Picture
Acupuncture has been practiced for over 5000 years and is one of the treatments used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acceptance of acupuncture in the Western world began over 40 years ago and is now incorporated in various forms for treatment of many disorders. In particular, treatment of musculoskeletal conditions with either Traditional Chinese style acupuncture, anatomical (Western style) acupuncture or dry needling techniques can be effective in relieving pain and restoring function of the body. Acupuncture is virtually painless, and most people experience a state of deep relaxation during treatment. Typically, between 4-20 needles are inserted into various acupuncture points on the body and are retained for 15-30 minutes depending on the condition being treated. The World Health Organization (WHO) endorses the use of acupuncture for many conditions.
